Jackshoot Team Photo

“Excuse the shouting!” Or “why we have started talking loudly about Jackshoot?” 🙂

You may have noticed of late that our JACKSHOOT team has been a bit more proactive (or shoutier!) in talking about our skills and services.

It’s not only because we all have to work that little bit harder these days (no politics here but you KNOW what I’m talking about!).

It’s also because while we’ve always relished our low profile, more mystique, less bravado as we focused on being ‘quietly brilliant,’ it just feels time to pull the curtain back and show our faces.

So as we may not have been properly introduced, I thought it was time we were!

We have been around since the earliest days of streaming when users could watch our live streams on the first data networks, when the internet was about FriendsReunited, lastminute.com and Hotmail.

Most people had a paltry 56Kbps dial-up connection to watch the live streams we produced, (that bandwidth is barely enough to transmit a high-quality selfie these days!) so you can imagine the challenges we had to overcome.

Kitchen table beginnings

In 2004, after noticing an increasing need for live streaming services for brands and events that were in search of the online audience, our founder, Simon Haywood, decided to start Jackshoot from his kitchen table.

He and his then colleague, Ken Coppel, were soon being hired to broadcast events such as the BRIT Awards, Kylie Live from Hammersmith Apollo, as well as the opening of the Scottish Parliament!

Around the same time, I was running live events for AOL Music, recording the first online music sessions with artists like Kings of Leon, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay and more.

I was soon working with Ken and Simon on a regular basis, and when Jackshoot was formed, I was their first major customer, producing live content for mobile from the brand new venue in Greenwich, The O2.

The core team forms

It wasn’t long before I joined JACKSHOOT proper, and the team have worked brilliantly alongside each other, along with an utterly vital behind the scenes performance from Liz Haywood.

The business and the team continue to grow; despite economic crashes, a pandemic, major floods and curveballs along the way.

Our promise to you

Part of the reason for our growth is that we ALWAYS deliver on these 5 commitments:

  1. Most innovative solutions that provide you with the ‘best’, ‘most’ or ‘first’ for your business
  2. High quality support so the process is always a delight and never a fright
  3. Utter reliability so you can sleep soundly at night and relax in your role
  4. Super bendy flexibility so we’re able to respond to your changing needs, wants and the operating envionment
  5. Surprising affordability so even those with more modest budgets can achieve excellence.

20 years’ young

It feels nice to be approaching Jackshoot’s 20th birthday in the place we are today: arguably the finest online broadcast team for hire in Europe.

By now, I believe we can stick our heads above the parapet a little and let the world know that we have a solid, proven track record in delivering a huge range of broadcast services.

We are particularly well-known and trusted live encoding for the web, and transmission via IP/Cellular and point-to-point transmission, which is our sweet spot, especially when coupled with our other bolt-on services, including live multi-cam rigs, connectivity, virtual and hybrid events, uplinks and more.

Here’s what Tom Young, producer of Somethin’ Else BRITs 2023 found:

“The BRITs is much more than just the day and the streams themselves but about the confidence you give us, the patience you display and the thinking you put into every aspect. It is top-class.

You are also all lovely people to be around.

Thank you for the agility this year and for responding at each beat of the night.

The numbers have been strong, particularly the length of time that people are watching for this year.”

Tom Young

It’s in our DNA

Live broadcasts are in our DNA; we often eat, sleep and repeat the live stuff – and we still love it.

While they’re often behind the scenes, the reality is that we’re here to make our clients are the superheroes of every live stream.
