JACKSHOOT x Maison Bent: Pioneering Sustainable Fashion at London Fashion Week 2024
Building on our successful relationship with the British Fashion Council (BFC) and their flagship event, London Fashion Week, the BFC connected us to the sustainable fashion brand, Maison Bent, for their inaugural LFW catwalk show.
A highly visible facet of Maison Bent’s 2024 season catalogue, the catwalk show was an incredibly important event for Maison Bent. It needed to be successful and find potential customers where they are, in this case on Instagram!
Known for promoting British fashion talent globally, the BFC highlights exceptional creatives and their contributions to the world of fashion.
Maison Bent, along with founder, Shanna Bent, are among the cohort to receive centre stage for their illustrious designs and passion for sustainability and diversity of fashion.
Official Online Broadcast Partner
JACKSHOOT supported the event as the Official Online Broadcast Partner, delivering a live broadcast (or live stream) to their Instagram platform.
Sustainability is a passion we share, and with JACKSHOOT’s broadcast expertise and live stream experience in the fashion space, we collaborated to present Shanna’s new collection.
This collaboration builds on our commitment to support small businesses in the creative space, and with the success of their first catwalk, we expect more exciting things to come.
We’re proud to have established this partnership with Maison Bent and we look forward to more ways to grow and bring their amazing creativity and style to online audiences around the world.
Words from the Founder, Shanna Bent:
“I had the pleasure of working with JACKSHOOT as the Official Livestream company for the Maison Bent SNLS London Fashion Week show, and they exceeded all expectations.
Their team were professional, efficient, and handled every detail with precision. The quality of the live broadcast was exceptional, capturing the energy and aesthetic of the show beautifully.
They made the entire process seamless, allowing us to focus on our event while they took care of the technical aspects.
I highly recommend JACKSHOOT to anyone looking for a top-notch live broadcast or stream experience!”
We also used this opportunity to work with MAMA Youth Project and offer a work experience opportunity to one of their graduate alumni – Joseph Lindsay.
Joseph is a graduate Trainee Producer who was onsite to support the JACKSHOOT team in delivering the stream.
In Joseph’s own words:
“It was amazing, everyone was so kind, and I got to see a plethora of different aspects in regards to streaming live events.
From the technical side with Charlie (JACKSHOOT’s Technical Assistant) showing me how to set up the video onto Instagram, to the logistical side with Natalie (JACKSHOOT’s Assistant Producer) talking me through the event broadcast and supporting me throughout, while also imparting her immense knowledge and experience from her many years of fashion shows.
The show itself was amazing and something I had never experienced before, and it did make me keen to look into organising live events as well as a whole host of other ideas.”
Thoughts from our CCO, Abi Hemingway:
“The work we did with Maison Bent, builds on our live fashion show pedigree, and we’re incredibly fortunate for this opportunity to work with a brand like Shanna’s, one that champion’s sustainability and diversity through their clothing.
Sustainability, across all sectors, is something we’re trying to move forward. We care about how this is done both in front of and behind the camera. By working with brands like this, we support creativity with more efficient and environmentally-conscious solutions.
What’s more, we get to use partnerships such as this one to bring on new talent and open the broadcast industry to the next gen. Equal to sustainability, we are committed to ensuring the future of the people behind the broadcast, so we are creating new work experiences across projects that show how effective ‘green’ broadcasting can be, as well as creating work opportunities, particularly for a diverse range of talent.”
About Maison Bent
Maison Bent is a conscious fashion house championing diversity.
As an alumnus of Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, Maison Bent’s Founder, Shanna Bent, refined her craft and inspiration at Agent Provocateur, Roland Mouret and others.
Prior to showcasing her graduate collection at LCF’s Press Show, Shanna was a finalist for Whistle’s SS12 Sustainable capsule collection competition and a runner-up for designing uniforms for the 2012 Olympic games in London.
In February 2020, Maison Bent showcased its first-ever solo presentation in Central London, followed by an on-schedule London Fashion Week Event in September and a digital appearance in February 2021. A catwalk show at LFW was the powerful next step in their journey.
A signature style of empowering occasion wear was evident from the first collection. Maison Bent draws inspiration from Shanna’s Jamaican heritage and her grandparent’s journey to the UK, effortlessly combining vintage Caribbean aesthetics with modern glamour.
Each piece is designed and made in London to minimise carbon emissions and to support local communities.
JACKSHOOT’s CSR Commitment
Caring for the planet
At JACKSHOOT, our commitment is clear, to minimise the environmental impact of our broadcasts without compromising on the quality of our content.
Over the years, we have incorporated many eco-friendly measures into our broadcast practices, and equally developed and pioneered new technologies and streaming strategies to revolutionise how we deliver content.
A big development is our work across IP broadcasts, with a move to introduce clients and partners to new cloud-based workflows that mitigate excessive on-location builds.
Our ‘green’ technologies reduce the volume of kit transported from location to location, perfect for easy shipping with the engineers who install them.
Across our client contracts, we have been eco-certified by Facebook/ META, and we have received accreditation from our broadcast work across the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) for their annual Conference of the Parties (COP).
These nods testify to our service and our ability to align with clients’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments.
Our workflow meets their green quotas and helps them to adhere to their credentials.
The work we do doesn’t stop there, with every new social media subscriber, JACKSHOOT plant a tree on their behalf with Just One Tree.
Just One Tree is a global environmental service with a mission to restore biodiversity across the planet. They provide homes for wildlife, raise rural employment, capture water, protect the coastline and heal our oceans.
With our support, JACKSHOOT is one of many assisting this very important cause, ensuring that every venture and contributor to our business is shaping the future to go green!
Caring for people
Here at JACKSHOOT, we believe the best way is the creative way, and creativity is nothing without the teams surrounding it.
As champions of diversity and inclusion, we strive to show this across our business.
